IJSB Opens Doors to New School Year

IJSB officially opened the school year (SY08-09) on Tuesday, 10 June 2008, with a bunch of new programs to be gradually phased in during the succeeding months.

IJSB is currently developing required Adjunct Classes (AC) for the High School Department which will take place once a week, beginning July. These are pragmatic classes designed to address academic/non-academic needs not offered in standard educational set-ups. Tentatively, Freshies will attend Speech and Conversation
(English), Sophies Environment and Society (Science and Social Studies), Juniors Marketing and Entrepreneurship (Math and Economics), and Seniors Motoring Skills. Grades for these classes will not be factored into students' grade average.

The Alternative Classroom Experience (ACE) will feature monthly hands-on classes in various fields outside the current academic curriculum, and is designed to enhance Jesseans' quality of student life. In the pipeline are such varied classes as Photography, Sushi Preparation, Art History and Appreciation, Robotics, Social Etiquette, Short-film Production, Podcasting, Graphic Design, and Cartooning for Kids.

These classes will be taught by professional practitioners and hobbyists in their respective fields and will be open to all IJSB students (pre-school, grade school, and high school levels), and to a limited degree, IJSB alumni. The ACE Program is not a replacement of IJSB's academic curriculum, is not compulsory, and will take place during weekends.

In order to improve school security, IJSB will be requiring cars to have vehicle passes in order to enter the school premises. Optional IJSB Pride Stickers are also available. Get yours from the Administration Office beginning 25 June.

IJSB invites suggestions from the Jessean community. Post a comment, send us an e-mail, drop by the office, or call us. Your help and contribution are essential to our collaborative effort in educating our children.
