Drama Club Wows Audiences in CDO

The IJSB Drama Club entranced a huge audience with their adaptation of the Broadway musical, Once on this Island, on May 18 in Cagayan de Oro. This was an invitation by the SM City - CDO Event Center during their Mall Fiesta programming. Following a successful performance at the CAP Auditorium in March (see related blogs by clicking on the March tab to the right), thirty eager students and supportive teachers traveled to CDO for the musical. Prior to the performance, the student-actors paraded in their costumes and make-up around the mall, helping stir up a crowd that filled the Event Center during the late afternoon show.

DVDs of IJSB's Once on this Island are now available at the school office. The Drama Club is also currently developing a new musical scheduled to go up in January with a tour to neighboring towns and cities.

IJSB Concludes E.A.S.T. Camp with Art Gallery Exhibit

IJSB Concludes the E.A.S.T. Summer Camp by integrating all classes in a commencement exercise with an art exhibit on May 16 at ten AM. Academic students received their certificates of completion, Voice students received their CD recording, Visual Arts students exhibited their artwork, while the Cooking class prepared hors d'oeuvres for the guests and students. Theater Arts students, meanwhile, participated in IJSB's tour production of Once on this Island at SM City - CDO.

During the exhibit, students stood by and explained their artwork while guests and friends bought them in earnest (digital copies are now available for the students at the IJSB Office).

The event was also graced by the multi-awarded Choir, the College of the Immaculate Conception Chorale, as they sang children's songs in different languages. It was the first event held at IJSB's Media Barn.

IJSB Gets New Clothes

Beginning this semester, IJSB will now be sporting a new coat of paint on its structures to make it look sunnier. The Sunshine Yellow and Terra Cotta shades will help balance the school atmosphere with the early rainy season we've been having.

The "Barn", the oldest structure in the campus, will also get a new coat of paint as it is being rebuilt as the school's Multi-media Building housing the Blackbox Theater, Soundstage, and Audio and Video Production Room.
